About Me
Hello I am SFC (retired) Robert Musgrove, aka "Gunny" and I love old baseball cards. I guess the passion for old pasteboard started when my Poppal (the name I called my grandfather) bought me my first wax pack in the late 70's early 80's at a small town grocery store called The Country Boy in a small, rural town in Arkansas. I can still remember the feel of ripping open the wax wrapper and taking that gawd awful piece of gum out trying to chew it. Thank goodness Topps produced beautiful picture cards of the players whom we watched and enjoyed.
I have been a long time member of Net54 and several other collecting sites such as the old SGC boards, PSA and a few more. I have chosen now to stay away from third party grading unless I attempting to pick up a card that is know for counterfeits ensuring that I get an authentic copy. I enjoy putting sets into binders and to get back to the old way of collecting and trading. My collecting goals are pretty slim right now with my main focus being to complete the 55 Bowman Baseball along with the 59, 62, 64, 67 and a few 70's Topps baseball sets. I also have quite a few more sets I listed. I do not really enjoy buying or selling cards and would prefer to trade over selling any day of the week. I also love old football sets from the 50's and 70's. Also really enjoy the 1966-67 Topps Hockey set! I am not too condition sensitive just want to try and avoid "fillers" when possible. But as quite a few collectors would say, "I would rather have a hole in a card, than a hole in my set". I will try to get back with anyone was quickly as I can via email at [email protected] for possible swaps or to just talk old pasteboard. I have met many collectors whom I now consider brothers and friends such as Dave Hogan and a few others out there. I love being a part of VCT and a member OBC communities and share in the LOVE and PASSION of the trading hobby. Update as of 17 August 2023 my first grandchild is born and is the light of my life. All praise to my Lord and Savior JESUS! I now dedicate my set building to be with my grandson and to enjoy in this wonderful hobby and passion!!!! Please see also my Grandsons Topps type card set i am starting May 2024 which I need one card from every set topps produced. I am still working on the checklists
